The purpose of the Kansas State Alliance of YMCAs is to represent the collective voice and impact of all 10 independent Kansas YMCA Associations; foster statewide communication and cooperation; and inspire, nurture and strengthen communities by advancing youth development, healthy living and social responsibility through advocacy, programming and collaboration. We know when we speak with one voice we can move individuals, communities and our entire state forward. We are a grassroots driven and governed organization that advocates on behalf of the YMCA and its mission.
The Kansas YMCAs serve 540,000 people in over 30 communities across the Sunflower State. As public charities, Kansas Ys engage 183,000 children and teens and provide a wide range of activities to nurture their potential and ensure their success. With almost 15,000 volunteers with 313,848 hours and over 4,400 employees, the Y is making a difference in all of the Kansas communities it serves.
With a focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility, the Kansas State Alliance of YMCAs serves all YMCA branches in the state by advocating on their behalf and providing a multitude of programs across the state. The Alliance has been working with the local Ys to have a positive impact on the achievement gap in Kansas in order to ensure that all our children served can read at the appropriate grade level. We are also working to expand and promote evidence-based chronic disease prevention programs (like the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program and EnhanceFitness) that promote quality of life for all. Additionally we address youth at risk, childhood obesity, and prevention of child abuse. Together the YMCAs in Kansas are creating a healthy and positive state for our future generations.
Be a part of a cause committed to strengthening communities that empowers youth, adults and families to learn, grow and thrive.
